LastPass is a password management service that allows users to securely store, generate, and manage their passwords.

The service aims to help users create strong and unique passwords for different websites and apps without the need to remember each one individually. LastPass helps businesses of all sizes reduce the risk of compromised credentials by increasing password security across their organization, and continuously minimizing the risks associated with passwords and reliance on human behavior. As authentication technologies advance, LastPass further reduces password usage by adopting passwordless login and passkeys that leverage biometrics, FIDO2 standards, and more.

80% of data thefts are caused by weak, repeated or stolen passwords, it is essential that the password of each account is unique. But are you able to remember as many unique and strong passwords as you should? It’s simply impossible. A password manager, on the other hand, can.

A password manager is a tool that deals with creating, remembering, and filling in passwords. The first time you log in to an online account, LastPass will save your username and password so that your details are automatically filled in when you visit again.

LastPass Business helps employees by reducing issues with users and IT teams. It saves time by simplifying worker password management while providing a practical visualization for administrators that includes advanced reports and more than a hundred customizable security policies.

It helps businesses use fewer passwords, shifting toward a passwordless future. From no visibility of applications beyond SSO to full observability and management in a management console, LastPass provides policies and reports to shape user behavior across the organization.

How does LastPass work?

Password managers like LastPass store all your passwords and other sensitive data in a password vault, somewhat like a safe but in the virtual world. The LastPass vault stores passwords, secure notes, and credit card information, to name a few. The client can import sites into their vault or add them manually, and they can also use the browser extension. In this case, LastPass will automatically capture account passwords as you enter them on each website.

From the LastPass vault, the user can access websites, edit login information, add notes, and share login information, among other tasks.

The information stored in the vault is secret, even to LastPass. Local-only encryption is used, so that customer data is encrypted and decrypted on the device. The user’s master password and the keys used to encrypt and decrypt the data are never sent to LastPass servers.
