Ensure you are ready for iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 upgrades

  • With Wi-Fi MAC address randomization introduced in iOS14, customers managing enterprise Wi-Fi Networks using MAC addresses should plan to disable Wi-Fi Private Addresses. This will require upgrading to Core 10.8, Core 10.7.0.1 or Cloud 72 and modifying the Wi-Fi configuration. More Information
  • Apple plans to deprecate the UIWebView class in favor of WKWebView. Customers using Docs@Work and Web@Work with UIWebView should deploy MobileIron Tunnel. Core Customers using Split Tunnelling are required to upgrade to Core 10.7 or later. More Information
  • Changes in iOS 14 cause certain uses of the pasteboard to display a notification on client apps. More Information

iOS14 New features availability on day zero

Release requirement for these new features: Core 10.8 and Cloud 72

  • A new critical privacy feature introduced by iOS 14 is Wi-Fi MAC Address randomization. With iOS 14, whenever a device is associated with a Wi-Fi network, it will use a random MAC address instead of the device’s true hardware MAC address. Admin will be provided with an option to disable Wi-Fi MAC Addresses. This will require upgrading to Core 10.8, Core 10.7.0.1 or Cloud 72 and modifying the Wi-Fi configuration.
  • Shortcuts supports Managed Open In. Beginning with Core 10.8 and Cloud R72, with Shortcuts supporting open-in and with device policy set on MobileIron Admin console, when shortcuts trigger an action where data flow is not allowed because of device policy, the shortcut will stop running.
  • eSIM identifier is made available on MobileIron Admin Console in device details for IT admins in Core 10.8 and Cloud R72. This feature simplifies eSIM activation for the customers as Providers/Partners can now retrieve eSIM identifiers from MobileIron’s Device Details API, which will enable seamless activation of eSIM (virtual SIM) using automated device enrollment.
